Is over elden ring ? Congratulations. Now is the time to test your skills against other demanding games. Please note that our selection is aimed at an informed public.

Is over elden ring (bravo!) And, as you feared, life has gotten a bit dull since then, for lack of a challenge to match your level of play? Now you’re looking for the next game that will reward you for your true worth and push you to your limits. Good news, there are plenty of demanding games that can satisfy your appetite for big challenges.

We exclude all FromSoftware games, i.e. the trilogy Dark souls, the souls of the devil (the new version of PS5), blood borne Y Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, as well as video games that openly take inspiration from it (that is, all RPGs set in a medieval universe). It seems too obvious to us to advise the other games of the studio behind elden ring, the game is too close. That does not mean that they are bad games, but there are other experiences to live.

Be careful, these titles can cost you a few controllers…

All those great games that will play on your nerves.

hell (2020)

We will never miss an opportunity to advise hell, a true wonder that will hook you from the first game. In this daring reinterpretation of Greek mythology, we embody the son of the God of the underworld. This atypical hero has only one wish: to leave his father to enjoy a well-deserved freedom. The result is an adventure that is based on the repetition of failures to finally succeed. As a plus, the narration is exemplary, with a universe that we are pleased to deepen in each attempt.

Playable on: PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC.

Remnant: From the Ashes (2019)

Remnant: From the Ashes it is, in a way, the TPS version of Dark Souls, where we would replace magic, swords and axes with firearms. And it must be recognized that the changes made work, guaranteeing new sensations. The costumes are certainly a bit austere, but the care given to the shooting mechanics -recoil, reload, sound effects- is noteworthy. You have to put up with it a bit, then you no longer see the hours go by.

Playable on: PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, Xbox One and PC.

cup head (2017)

Don’t be fooled by appearances: behind its graphics worthy of a 1930s cartoon, cup head undoubtedly hides one of the toughest challenges in recent years. Very old-fashioned, the game is as much about reflexes as it is about learning and personal sacrifice. We pulled our hair out on some levels, knowing that easy mode is just an illusion: it doesn’t really allow progress.

Playable on: PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC.

furious (2016)

furious is defined as a boss fever, that is, a video game that is based solely on fighting against tough opponents. Some would see a limit there. This is actually a strength, because each face-to-face is unique and requires its own methodology to get ahead. It’s brilliant, and always amazing. Please note that an extension will be released very soon: from May 16, we will be able to embody another character.

Playable on: PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC.

older souls (2021)

At the instance of fury, older souls revolves its gameplay around boss fights. Again, it’s a way to make the most of all the tools available to players to get by. Every enemy we meet really marks the spirits and, between two epic sequences, we can explore a mysterious citadel animated by a magnificent pixel art representation. Be careful, it is really very difficult.

Playable on: PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC.

wave 2 (2019)

We promised ourselves not to put any games reminiscent of Dark Soul in this selection. We will make a small bend to the rule with wave 2. Although the first work was meritorious, but could be perfected, this sequel affirms much more the ambitions of this science fiction rereading of the genre popularized by FromSoftware. Prettier, longer and above all better controlled, wave 2 It has an interesting mechanic, consisting of being able to dismember enemies to recover essential resources for their survival. Yes, it is violent.

Playable on: PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, Xbox One and PC.

hollow knight (2017)

When looking at pictures or videos ofhollow knight, we think it’s all too cute and harmless to be true. This impression is correct, as it places the requirement cursor quite high, with fights more technical than it seems. Its many qualities are at the service of a dense adventure, which flourishes in the metroidvania (action/adventure/exploration) genre. Only problem? You can get lost very quickly and wander not knowing where to go.

Playable on: PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC.

Ikaruga (2002)

Ikaruga will bring back painful memories to fans of arcade machines. It is a vertical shoot them up, whose peculiarity is very ingenious. Specifically, the ship you pilot can go from black to white, knowing that only a projectile of the opposite color can destroy it (it absorbs the others). So the trick is to constantly switch based on what’s happening on the screen. You have to be quick and careful.

Playable on: Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC.

Sayo (2022)

Inside Sayono one will tell you what to do. A friendly little fox, resembling the hero of Zelda, lands on an island. The first few minutes are hesitant and we grope, not really understanding what’s going on. In fact, all the explanations are in the pages of a manual that you learn as you go. It is a crazy intelligence idea, but one that could discourage more than one.

Playable on: Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, Xbox One and PC.
