After a very successful Pixel 6 in which the public seems to find themselves (Google claims that it sold better only than the Pixel 4 and 5 combined), the Mountain View company has finally formalized the arrival of the Pixel 7 next fall. and 7 Pro.

Only the giant has not said everything. So, let’s summarize here the absolutely true elements about these flagships as they are brought to you by Google, then let’s also look at the rumors that we consider reliable about the points that were not addressed during their teasing.

The aluminum that changes everything

When a release is successful, moving on to the next can sometimes be a difficult decision. Should we decide with precedent or continue its momentum? Google, for its part, has decided to keep the fundamentals of the Pixel 6, but put a little more resources into it.

By this, we mean that the photo block, an element so visible on the back of the smartphone, will be made here from a piece of 100% recycled aluminum. Which immediately gives a much more premium look to your phones.

Especially since Pixel 6 and 6 Pro owners complain precisely that their photo block is the first part of the smartphone to suffer from wear. With a harder material, we can expect greater durability.

On the other hand, according to Youtuber Brownlee Brands (also known as MKBHD), Google would keep the same type of glossy glass, again conveying the idea of a matte coating.

For the rest of the design, the two phones look much the same as their older ones, except that the two wide-angle and ultra-wide sensors will now be surrounded by an oblong bubble, while the third one on the Pro, probably a telephoto lens. lens, is isolated on its own punch.

One thing is certain, having shown the design so soon should put an end to the rumors about it. However, the front face was not shown during the presentation. Does this mean that Google still has a revelation under its hat? We think for example of a frontal photosensor hidden under the screen. At the moment, there is nothing to confirm this except perhaps a patent in August 2021.

Three colors for each model.

Another very important point, the first colors (we imagine that others may be revealed later) were shown just after the conference.

For the Pixel 7, you can choose between black, white, and lemon yellow, while the Pixel 7 Pro comes in black, white, and gray-green.

Also, we notice that the back of the phones is completely flat this time. In the Pixel 6 we could detail two colors, one above the block and one below.

Tensioner 2 is confirmed

Second element confirmed by Google, the second generation of its internal SoC, the Google Tensor 2, will equip these Google Pixel 7 and 7 Pro well.

Very good news since it is in part this chip that made the previous models attractive, allowing the management of algorithms dedicated to artificial intelligence, photography and video on top. However, we hope that Google has been interested in making its chip more powerful, since the first Tensor clearly had a train of delay, especially in the graphics part.

In the photo, why change a winning team?

Google did not deign to give details about the photographic components of the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro. According to the leaker Yogesh Brar the photographic modules will be exactly the same as in the Pixel 6 and 6 Pro.

This would not be very surprising from the Mountain View company, which had kept the same sensors from the Pixel 2 to the Pixel 5, with a very convincing optimization prospect.

to a smaller screen

Another point ignored during Google I/O, the Pixel 7 would go from a 6.4-inch screen to 6.3 inches. A small change that can make a big difference in handling and that doesn’t seem entirely illogical given the premium smartphone market. In fact, the Xiaomi 12 and Galaxy S22, for example, have tended to downsize this year.

The Pixel 7 Pro, for its part, would maintain its large 6.7-inch diagonal, again a logical choice for the brand’s most equipped smartphone.

the gray areas

As you may have understood, despite the partial formalization of the Pixel 7 by Google, therefore, there are still a lot of gray areas in this phone. We don’t know, for example, the charging power of the phone, although we expect the latter to exceed the 30W of the Pixel 6, which is too slow in 2022.

On the battery side, we don’t have any reliable information yet. We can simply imagine that Google will match the Pixel 6’s 4,614 mAh and the Pixel 6 Pro’s 5,003 mAh.

Release date and price

Google announced that the Pixel 7 and 7 Pro would launch in the fall of 2022. For comparison, the Pixel 6 and 6 Pro were announced on October 19, 2021 to be available on October 25.

Prices are currently unknown. The Pixel 6s were launched at a very aggressive price compared to the competition. Let’s see if Google
